It is more than interesting to realize that in Paul's Spirit Inspired Letter to the Romans there is a similar reference to this matter of the Law being put within or written on hearts of unbelievers ... but with an altogether different effect: "They show that the essential requirements of the Law are written in their hearts and are operating there... and ... will accuse them ...on that day." Romans 2:15-16 (The Amplified Bible)
Stepping Forwards ... in spiritual terms is a matter of the heart! In Paul's letter to the Christian congregation/s in Ephesus he clearly calls the sincere Spirit controlled (5:18) believer to, among other things, make (5:19c) "melody with all your heart to the Lord." Then in verse 20 Paul call upon each of us to give thanks to God the Father "in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Then Paul asks us to be found stepping forward - even further ... by being (21) "subject to one another out of reverence for Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One." In the midst of our post-modern denial of any authority over us: our individualism, our self-centeredness and our sheer pridefulness naturally argues with Paul (and God) assuring us that we may well be endangering our personal security and success by submitting ourselves to any one else!
